Post Office Cafe Open 7 days a week from 10 am Great coffee, local wine selection and menu choice Remember : Too much of a good thing can be great This building is a fine example of masonry and few would realise that it was built over a period of ten years. Mr Gair (of Cromwell) was the mason and the extension was added when Post Office mail boxes and telephone exchanges were introduced. Seven telephones were installed in 1909. The first Clyde Post Office, originally made of calico, was blown away in the 1863 gale. It was then reconstructed of corrugated iron and wood and this became the most common form of building on the 1860s.
